Washington County is a county located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Both the county and the city were named for American Revolutionary War leader George Washington, later to become the first President of the United States. Washington County is included in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county is home to Washington County Airport, located three miles (5 km) southwest of Washington, Pennsylvania. ==Geography== According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (0.5%) is water.
